This piece was written by the 19-year-old Fryderyk Chopin for a young piano-playing princess to “show off her fingers.” Cellist Leonard Rose came along several decades ago to beef up the cello part, played here by cellist Alisa Weilerstein, with Inon Barnatan on the piano.

Dvorak’s Serenade in D minor for winds has been an ever-enchanting audience favorite since the Czech composer wrote it in 1878. Faculty of the Brevard Music Center performed the piece as a part of the Brevard Music Festival’s chamber music concerts.
